Team

The people behind StratumVest.

Three co-founders, each leading a core discipline that strengthens the others: operations, investment strategy, and investor relations.

Kurt Spann

Kurt Spann

Co-Founder · Investor Relations & Capital Formation

Kurt Spann is Co-Founder of StratumVest LLC, where he leads investor relations and capital formation. With more than 25 years of investment experience and three decades of sales leadership, he has built his career on disciplined decision-making, trusted relationships, and responsible capital allocation.

Kurt began investing in real estate in 2000 and founded VolkSpann Properties LLC in 2004, acquiring, owning, and managing a portfolio of multifamily residential properties. As owner and operator, he directed every aspect of the business, including acquisitions, financing, property management, and asset management. Following the successful disposition of his portfolio, Kurt founded Deep Harbor Capital LLC, his personal investment company, to focus on private investments and lending across real estate and other alternatives.

Before dedicating himself full-time to private investing, Kurt spent three decades in sales leadership and relationship management, developing the communication discipline, integrity, and client-first approach that continues to define his work with investors today.

For Kurt, capital is a matter of trust. He co-founded StratumVest on the conviction that successful investing rests on disciplined underwriting, transparent communication, and exceptional stewardship of investor capital. Every investor is treated as a valued partner, with the personalized attention and responsiveness of a concierge investment experience.

Tyler Denney

Tyler Denney

Co-Founder · Investment Strategy, Underwriting & Risk Management

Tyler Denney is Co-Founder of StratumVest LLC, where he leads investment strategy, underwriting, and risk management. With an engineering and finance background, senior corporate leadership experience, and a hands-on track record as a real estate investor and lender, Tyler brings disciplined, data-driven rigor to every deal StratumVest evaluates.

Tyler holds an Engineering degree and earned his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his MBA, he gained private equity experience evaluating acquisition targets, work that sharpened the analytical discipline and capital-allocation judgment that now shape StratumVest's investment strategy and underwriting process. He went on to a corporate leadership career overseeing multiple business units with annual revenue exceeding $500 million, experience that gave him firsthand command of operational complexity, financial forecasting, and the discipline required to scale an organization profitably.

Alongside his corporate career, Tyler built a parallel track record as a real estate investor and operator. He owns and operates a short-term rental portfolio, giving him direct experience in real estate acquisition, asset management, and operations. He is also Owner and Managing Principal of Bedrock Capital LLC, his private lending firm. Through Bedrock Capital, Tyler developed robust underwriting models and risk-mitigation frameworks that directly inform the investment strategy at StratumVest.

For Tyler, sound investing begins with rigorous underwriting. He underwrites every deal conservatively, identifies and evaluates every risk that could affect a return, and strips out any assumption that can't be defended. Investors get institutional-grade underwriting rigor, paired with the accountability of someone who has built and managed his own capital deployments in real estate.

Chris Monsour

Chris Monsour

Co-Founder · Operations, Technology & Financial Controllership

Chris Monsour is Co-Founder of StratumVest LLC, where he leads operations, technology, and financial controllership. With more than 20 years of corporate executive leadership and a track record of building and scaling operations across both business and real estate, Chris brings disciplined systems thinking and operational rigor to every deal StratumVest pursues.

Chris spent two decades in executive technology leadership, most recently heading technology operations for a financial services firm with over $300 billion in assets under management. There he led the teams responsible for the technology infrastructure serving both the back office and more than 6,000 field advisors across a highly regulated industry. The teams and systems he built earned sustained recognition for operational excellence and customer service, including 14 consecutive J.D. Power awards.

Chris left the corporate world in 2025 to focus on real estate investing and extend his operational framework beyond a single company, where it could have broader impact. He founded Monsour Capital, a commercial real estate and alternative investment firm that acquires commercial properties and overhauls their operations, growing the portfolio to over $6 million with no outside investors. Alongside it, he founded CatalystNorth, a fractional executive practice that has helped more than a dozen business owners break through ceilings and plateaus to build the systems needed to scale.

For Chris, investments are won in the execution. He co-founded StratumVest on the conviction that the difference between a good deal and a bad one is rarely the deal itself: it is the discipline running underneath it. He builds the systems, processes, and infrastructure that turn underwriting discipline into consistent, repeatable execution.
